Conditional Admissions

In countries where it is extremely difficult to get a student visa with admission from an ESL school, it can help to have conditional admission from a college or university.

Conditional admission means that a student has been accepted to a school academically, but will not be officially accepted until he or she demonstrates sufficient English skills, either with the WESLI recommendation or a TOEFL score. The student’s I-20, issued from WESLI, states that the student has been conditionally admitted to the university. This demonstrates the student’s long-term educational plan to the consular official, and may facilitate the visa application process.

It usually takes four weeks to complete the conditional admission process from the time your completed application is received at WESLI.
