Student Spotlight: Amy Alfaqih
Amy Alfaqih was a student at WESLI three years ago and now she is a graduate student at Edgewood College. Amy’s undergraduate major was English language and literature, and she is now studying Education at Edgewood College as a graduate student.
Edgewood College is located in Madison, Wisconsin and is known for its business, nursing and education programs. Their mission: Edgewood College, rooted in the Dominican tradition, engages students within a community of learners committed to building a just and compassionate world. The College educates students for meaningful personal and professional lives of ethical leadership, service, and a lifelong search for truth.
Students love Edgewood College because they offer small classes and students get a lot of one on one attention. They also love Edgewood because it means they can stay in Madison 🙂 The campus is pretty small – there are around 2,500 students on campus – so it’s easy to find your way around – and it’s beautiful and safe! Here’s what Amy had to say about her time at school:
What do you like about your college?
I like many things about my college, such as how they treat international students. Another thing I like is that it is broad and beautiful. Also, there is a bus station near the college building, which makes it easy to get around.
What do you like to do when you are not studying?
I like to explore Madison because there are so many great things to do!
How does life as a college student compare to life as a WESLI student?
I think that life as a WESLI student is an experimental atmosphere that prepares students to be a college student in the future. My classes at Edgewood are similar to classes at WESLI, there are few students in a class and we work in small groups.
Do you have any advice for WESLI students who want to go to college?
I would tell WESLI students to study hard and be as WESLI teachers want you to be.
